About This Experience
The Hell's Kitchen excursion, also known as the Watamu Grand Canyon, is an exciting experience that allows you to explore one of the most fascinating natural wonders in Kenya. Located about one and a half hours from Watamu, the Marafa Depression is a natural canyon formed over years of erosion caused by rain and wind, characterised by steep cliffs, colourful canyons and unique geological formations. The excursion begins with a walk through the savannah, where you can admire breathtaking landscapes and local wildlife. Upon arrival at the Marafa Depression, you descend along a series of paths leading through the deep canyon valleys, exploring caves, tunnels and natural rock formations, admiring the incredible colours of the canyon that change depending on the sunlight. You'll be accompanied by expert guides who explain the geology and history of the area, with small souvenir shops along the way selling handmade items from local residents.
